But substitute Filip Holosko pulled one back in the 86th minute and a Tomas Ujfalusi own goal two minutes later earned Besiktas a point.
Besiktas Milangaz ended that drought, emerging on top in a pulsating EuroChallenge final to defeat Elan Chalon 91-86 in Debrecen.

Besiktas power forward/center Pops Mensah-Bonsu was named as the EuroChallenge Final Four MVP by the media professionals covering the event.

David Hawkins sent Besiktas 15-3 ahead midway through the opening quarter, the French side stopped in their tracks and struggling to make an impact.

They needed patience, but also ignition, to edge back into contention. Emboldened after their achievements at home and abroad this season, they declined to relent.

Trailing 32-15 after Besiktas hit five consecutive points at the start of the second period, French international Steed Tchicamboud sparked his side belatedly into action as Blake Schilb broke free of his shackles.

The American found Michel Jean-Baptiste-Adolphe open for a lay-in that capped a 7-1 run that closed the gap to just 42-38. Hope was restored. Confidence remained.

And the 44-40 deficit at half-time looked far from surmountable. So it proved.

Chalon rattled off seven unanswered points to sweep 55-53 ahead with 1:40 left in the third quarter as Besiktas felt the heat.

The Pro A side had the momentum in their favour and belief ran through their veins. Fighting for every loose ball, battling for each open shot, their push was relentless but ultimately, it came up short.

Erseg sent the Turks into the fourth period with a 57-55 advantage and although Abdul Aminu levelled once more, Chalon would never lead again.

A 7-0 run put them into a hole and there was no way out.

Carlos Arroyo dropped two long-range bombs within 90 seconds and his team began to exhale when they pulled 82-70 clear with 2:03 left.

Tchicamboud, who hit a team-high 19 points, attempted to spark one last brave rally but it was too tough an ask as Besiktas completed their mission from the foul line and the celebrations began.

Besiktas beats the Hungarian side, they will play against the winner of the tie game between Russia’s Triumph and France’s Chalon in Sunday’s final.

Besiktas Milangaz booked their place in Sunday's EuroChallenge final in Debrecen with a 64-60 victory over Olaj Szolnoki.

Zorac Erceg hit a game-high 17 points amid Besiktas shooting struggles but it was a team effort that ground out the chance to make amends in the competition's climax.

The Final Four is being staged in Debrecen, Hungary.

Besiktas started the season in EuroCup preliminaries, but was relegated to the third-tier club competition in European basketball after losing to Dexia Mons from Belgium.

The Black Eagles had one of the best point guards in the world then, with Deron Williams choosing to play for the Istanbul team during the NBA lockout. Williams put in some memorable performances in the Eurochallenge, including a 50-point game to set the competition record, but Besiktas still managed to recover from his loss after the superstar returned to the New Jersey Nets with the end of the lockout.
Besiktas replaced Williams with Puerto Rican guard Carlos Arroyo. It also acquired Pops Mensah-Bonsu, who showed his impact with double figures in both points and rebounds.

“We have an opportunity on our hands,” coach Ergin Ataman was quoted as saying on the competition website. “A European Cup gives a boost to Beşiktaş and Turkish basketball.” The only time that a Turkish basketball club has ever won a European title was in 1996 when Anadolu Efes, formerly Efes Pilsen, won the Korac Cup.

The club announced on their official website that the trio had been excluded from squad training due to "a lack of discipline and issues with their personal lives."

They will continue to be excluded from squad training in the build up to this weekend's Super League Championship play-off fixture against Trabzonspor.

Meanwhile, Cenk Gonen is another step closer to returning from injury as he received treatment before undertaking some running exercises.
The game has been played on Monday and Besiktas lost 2-0 on their own turf.

The referee of the game Hüseyin Göçek, whose photos appeared on Turkish media where he had a Galatasaray jersey on, proved that the concerns of Besiktas fans haven’t been for nothing. Felipe Melo’s goal was clearly from an offside position but that was not the single ‘ mistake ‘ the referee had done during the Besiktas vs Galatasaray game.

And thereafter tempers flared with every passing minute. The so-called referee made too many mistakes too many controversial calls and too many non-calls, all against Besiktas.

Then came the moment when Besiktas fans couldn’t handle their frustration of the game and of the whole season. BJK Inönü stadium’s hell was unleashed on referee Hüseyin Göçek and on some provacative Galatasaray footballers led by Felipe ‘the dog’ Melo and former Arsenal player Eboue, whose antics at the latest Besiktas vs Galatasaray derby at Inönü also caused altercations with Besiktas fans.

One after other Besiktas fans invaded the pitch after 85th minute of the game, their frustration and having been betrayed by a sinister referee and federation, not only at this game but also in the two games vs Galatasaray in the regular season.

Two disallowed goals from Besiktas in those games and the final goal Galata had scored which was a product from an obvious charging foul in the last minute at their Arena had pushed Besiktas fans to their limits and they invaded the pitch yesterday wanted to throttle the ref and Melo and Eboue, the ever drama quenn.

Havutcu was detained during the probe, in which 93 people including the chairman of champions Fenerbahce, are being tried in an Istanbul court.

Carvalhal remained head coach after Havutcu was released pending trial with eight other suspects in December following the submission of a match-fixing indictment to the court.

Besiktas, currently fourth in the standings - 20 points behind leaders Galatasaray, issued a statement on its website thanking the Portuguese coach for his services to the club.

The hosts made their early dominance count in only the sixth minute when the ball fortuitously bounced into the path of Inanc, who thundered in a shot off the left upright that left keeper Cenk Gonen with little chance.

Istanbul B.B.’s early aggression diminished after the goal and the game went into a lull for much of the remainder of the half. Besiktas sought out an equaliser, but as in games gone by, were unable to create any clear-cut chances.

Besiktas drew level after a brilliant piece of skill from Manuel Fernandes. Keeper Kenan Hasagic’s throw was acrobatically plucked out of the air by the Portuguese midfielder, who then proceeded up field in traffic, played a lovely one-two with Mustafa Pektemek, and finished as cool as ice into the far corner of the net.

Fernandes’ goal seemed to inspire the entire squad, and within five minutes of the restart, Besiktas were ahead. Fernandes, who was truly having a blinder by this point, once again initiated the goal-scoring move. Besiktas countered at pace with Fernandes on the ball, and just when it looked like he would slow the pace of the attack, he played a wonderful through ball to Simao, who’s cross was met six yards from goal by Pektemek.

hosts were denied only by the woodwork in the 51st minute. Besiktas too created some fine chances to score and were immensely profligate on more than occasion. The game went end to end, but neither team could put the finishing touches to their sparkling attacking play, that is, until Visca struck in the 70th minute.

A cross from the right, that really should have been easily dealt with somehow found its way into the back of the net off Visca. Replays appeared to show the ball bouncing in off the knee of Visca, who was as surprised as anyone to see the ball find its way to him through several Besiktas defenders.

Black Eagles remain in 4th place with two matches remaining in the Turkish Super League.
